First posts

Well, that's it, I've set up the blog and have distributed the info a bit; I'm actually quite curious to see how well this works out. To my first visitors: let me know how you like it!

Currently my first 3 days of training are posted below, and I do hope to drop a post this weekend (maybe) detailing a bit of the adventures pre-UPT here in MS.

Enjoy, and drop me a 'comment' if you want! :)

DQ,
It's good to hear things are going well. I hope Columbus is treating you that well, because that is where I'll be off to. Do you think you can handle being at the same location as me again?
Quick question, are they letting casual, bachelor 2Lts live off-base? I've heard some rumor and conjecture that we may be forced to live on base. This is a bit lame conisdering I don't start UPT till April of '09. Just drop me a line on facebook or something if you have the chance.
Anywho, keep on trucking brother.

I sent a reply to Kyle already, but here are some select portions of it in case anyone might be interested:

...here's the deal (and don't quote me on anything): there will no longer be any dispersed casual assignments no matter how far off your start date is; everyone is going straight to their UPT base. So, basically hundreds of you guys will be showing up here essentially all at once. So, you should be able to off-base housing no problem, as did others I've talked to who arrived here last summer. Here's my suggestion, though: don't get a dorm (UOQ), but do try to get a house on-base if at all possible. My class was given the offer of living in accompanied housing if two 2Lts would live in one, and that's what I've done with one other guy, Ryan. It's a 3-bedroom house with 1.5 bath and is a really good size. So we each have our own room, an office/study room, and of course full kitchen, living room, dining room, and TONS of storage space. And, to top it all off, all of the grounds work is done for you so you don't even have to mow your lawn or anything during UPT. So, if they offer that to you, that's what I would suggest because once you start UPT it's VERY nice to already be inside the gates every morning (long lines) and so close to classrooms and the flight line. Plus, they're building a bunch of really nice brand new places and you may even get one of those by the time you get here in August.

Anywho, hope that answers your question.

Oooh it was a huge mistake for me to know about this blog. Prepare for excessive comments of meaningless purpose...daily
